Minecraft is a lot more than an addicting game for millions of students. It is an effective tool to teach computer programming, problem solving, critical thinking and collaborative skills. We can bottle the game into a learning environment, engaging students in a wide range of disciplines. Mathematical understanding, problem solving, collaboration, visuospatial construction, critical thinking, social awareness, creativity and -of course- programming, are some of the skills crafted through Minecraft.

In the following posts we will explore, create and deal with problems in a digital world. We will learn programming with turtle robots extending our possibilities in building or mining. Engagement with Computercraft – an exceptional Minecraft mod- will deepen students’ understanding in programming concepts.
